We are being boarded until we can get home!
The chins who're being boarded are chins that are no longer rescues, but are living here until their homes are ready for them, or the trips can be made to bring them there.
We only board chinchillas under specific circumstances. If the chinchilla has a home, but the adopter is not quite old enough to adopt him/her, we will hold the chinchilla until that person is old enough. This only happens when the adopter comes very highly recommended, we do not randomly hold chinchillas for underage kids. In these cases, we do appreciate small donations of toys or treats for the chinchilla. The cost of these things is subtracted from the adoption fee. If the chinchilla needs to be surrendered, and the home is over 8 hours away (driving time), we will temporarily provide shelter and care for the chinchilla free-of-charge until arrangements can be made for the chinchilla to get to his/her new home.
Lexi

Lexi was surrendered to another rescue on September 28, 2007, and she came to Finally Home Chinchillas on September 7, 2008. Lexi is very affectionate, and practically lives for scritches. She loves to engage us through the bars of her cage, and will sit and "talk" for hours. Lexi is very animated and just loves attention. We have not been able to hold her yet, but we're sure that once we gain her trust, she'll come out in no time. Lexi was born in approximately March 2004.
October 4, 2008: Lexi continues to blossom into a wonderfully friendly chin. Most days we wonder if her true name isn't Loki for all the antics she pulls! She loves to come up for scritches. We're continuing to work with her in regards to her terror of men. She doesn't mind Marne reaching in to the cage to give her scritches or to clean off shelves, but with Kjell it's a different matter. Lexi and Marne are currently working on trust, and Lexi does, on occasion, come onto Marne's hands. She's got wonderful potential.
November 3: We've moved Lexi into our bedroom, because the activity in the living room was too nervewracking for her. She's doing very well adjusting to the lower-key activity of the bedroom, and she's taken big steps in her trust of us. Lexi gets to see how we interact with the other chins in our bedroom. That's helped her to understand that we don't intend to harm her, and, as a result, she's gotten even more friendly.
In Feb 2009 we moved Lexi into our living room, where she is doing much better. She loves to watch tv, and to get regular scritches. Lexi is doing very well.
Lexi is currently sponsored by Nick. Nick will provide Lexi with such a good and knowledgeable home that we are going to board her here until he is able to adopt her. He will provide them with a wonderful home.
Justin and Ryan
Pictures coming soon!
Justin and Ryan were in need of a new home, but we were not able to take them into our rescue as rescue chins. We asked trusted friends if they knew of any excellent homes that might be interested in adopting these two boys. One home was suggested and very highly recommended, so we got in touch. The boys were exactly what the family was looking for, but they are over 16 hours away in Texas. Since we're moving in the next couple months, we arranged to transport the boys to their new home on the way to ours.
Justin and Ryan are beige brothers who love each other dearly. They are very sweet, friendly guys who had to be surrendered due to a dust allergy. Their former mom was devastated to have to surrender them, and she is very happy they've found as excellent a home as they have. The boys are perfect candidates for litter training and fleece liners, they love to chew all kinds of wood, and they love running on their Chin Spin. We are confident they will fit in well at their new home, and that they will be spoiled beyond compare.
